Willow Waters Kromdraai

Posted by Adil Mungalee on Monday, November 19, 2018, In : Sunday Afternoons
Sunday afternoons will never be the same.  Now I have gone and done it, I got the wife and the kids hooked onto the fishing and picnic scene, so now I am challenged every weekend to find the perfect spot.

One such fishing hideaway is Willow Waters in Kromdraai.  Just a quick 15 minute drive from Krugersdorp and you are rolling around at the foot of the Zwartkop Mountains. Here, nestled in a cosy spot is Willow Waters.  A property owned by a dashing Mr Kobus ( a very keen fisherman), the farm h...

Chiboos Farm New Machave

Posted by Adil Mungalee on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, In : King Carp
An awesome place is not good enough to describe it.  A privately owned farm which belongs to one of my very good friends is currently the main topic of discussion on the lips of many fishingfanatix enthusiasts.
We recently conducted a Survival activity for adults at the farm, and it was really great.  So I decided to book the whole family for a weekend getaway where I could test the fishing prospects....we were not disappointed.

Ubi with a 9kg Barbel which he hooked using a fish head.

STEELPOORT MONSTERS!

Posted by Adil Mungalee on Sunday, May 3, 2015, In : de hoop dam

On a trip to Nelspruit recently I was invited by Uncle Ismail Mia of Sollys Anglers Nelspruit, to join his son Abdurrahman Mia and his friend Ahmed Ismail on the boat at De Hoop Dam in Steelpoort.

We started out the day at 3:00am. I got my boys and my new brother in-law Abubakr ready, and we were off.  We reached the water at around 5:30am, after a long and winding road up and down the hills of Lydenburg.  The dam was beautiful to say the least, and I savoured the early morning atmosphere ...

MONSTER 20KG BARBEL CAUGHT AT BLOEMHOF!

Posted by Adil Mungalee on Monday, April 13, 2015, In : Monster Barbel

Moe Bakhas and Wilson carry the monster
Ashraf Bakhas of Sivaya Motors in Randfontein caught this whopper of a barbel on the 18 September 2014
. He says he used a carp head and instead of taking the line in deep, he cast the line in very near to the shoreline.  Within 10 minutes the bait got picked up and a 45 minute battle took place.  Ashraf was fishing with a 14 ft rod fitted with a magnum centre pin reel. "It was like catching something big off the surf", said Bhakas about his experience.

Fishing Heaven - Madagascar part 2

Posted by Aadil Cajee on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, In : Aadil Cajee
Day 2
Travelled South only to find glassy flat water with no current. Had 1 or 2 follows but otherwise quiet. we decided to work back North. On the way found some birds and really enjoyed throwing a little spoon into the mix to the bonnies. They move so incredibly fast so it was key to be able to make long casts to them before they got spooked and disappeared. Day 2 also saw us get into some lovely sized bluefin kingies and the geets came to play later in the afternoon as well. We had to cut ...

Fishing Heaven - Madagascar

Posted by Aadil Cajee on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, In : Fishing Madagascar

So got back a few days ago from an incredible week with Madagascar Fishing Adventures. After good on 2 years of waiting and planning, the day finally arrived. All the tackle prep and sleepless nights were worth it. Madagascar is an absolutely beautiful place, the people are friendly and the MFA set up just works.
I was travelling with a mate of mine from SA and we were to join 2 guys from the UK for the week. The plan was to fish around Sakatia Island and then South for the first few days, C...
